Before The Algorithm, When Print Was King
In a time before the algorithm we weren’t told what to like, we flipped through pages to find new and exciting possibilities.
There was no like button. No trending audio. Shows were advertised by spreading the good word.
You stood in the garage, show fields, and in front of magazine racks deciding what kind of automotive enthusiast you were.
Once your decision was made you laid your money on the counter purchasing your admission ticket to flip through dozens of pages of automotive eye candy, and reveled in being immersed into the world. Spending hours studying all of new possibilities and spying fellow kindred spirits in the crowd. After finishing your analog journey into this world you closed the pages inspired to be a part of the show.
Maybe that’s why I still believe the best parts of this culture don’t happen online.
