Hot New Trend-1988!

I received a hot tip from a friend that the local library was having a $2 bag sale, and that there was a magazine collection I would be interested in.

I made the trek down Main Street, grabbed a bag, and started rummaging. I found a few pieces of interest. However, this was the jewel of the evening. I made it just in time before another gentleman bought the whole collection.

This July 1988 edition of Hot Rod magazine went for a whopping $2.50 at the time of release. It has a special feature across the top reading, “HOT NEW TREND MINI-TRUCKS GALORE!”

In a previous blog entry we referred to ourselves as the Hill Valley Preservation Society of mini truck culture, and finding this felt like a huge win! This was the equivalent of finding lost microfilm in the courthouse.

Reading the articles inside, and seeing our world through someone else’s perspective when it was still new and unexplored has been a joy beyond measure!
